BEING NICE

OK, I am trying to be nice.  For those of you who know me, this is no easy feat.  I am easily irritated, want it done now, and always in a rush.  I have no patience.   I think I don't like restaurants, because I don't like to wait. 

 In trying to be "nicer", I am rolling my shopping cart into the proper place in the parking lots.  I am here to tell you, in this heat, that is NICE.  I am trying to smile more (I come by these frown lines on my face very easily).  I am being nicer to the people that wait on me in Ross Department Store (By the time I get to the front of the line, I want to kill someone)  And you know what?  Its working.  Maybe not for them, but I feel better.  Yesterday the lady in Ross behind the register let someone ahead of me.  I just smiled, even though I wanted to push my basket through the front window and leave.  When I got up to her, she said, "I am sorry, let me give you the Senior discount that we give on Tuesdays to you today for 10% off ".  I just smiled and said thank you. (Even though I am NOT 65, I took the discount.) 

As the summer goes on and it gets hotter and hotter, watch out, my good intentions may go out the window.  But for now, I'm just smiling.
