DAY 8 -BREATHING

Since 4:30 am (yes, that's what time I have been waking up) I have been breathing.......or hardly breathing, reading the end of the book Every Last One by Anna Quindlan.  It was recommended to me by my friend Janet this past Saturday.  I was in the middle of reading   The Passage by Justin Cronin and The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, but I thought ok, I'll see what it is all about.  Well, I couldn't put the book down and last night after supper, I laid down on the sofa to finish the book.  Of course I awoke at midnight, went to bed and finished the book this morning.  I couldn't breathe, I was crying so much.  I hate/love to recommend this book and yes, I want everyone to read it so we can discuss it.  I think Anna is a genius and got the last 100 pages of the book just right...It's not often I can hardly read the end of a book because I am crying and can't breathe.

Then I went for my walk.  I remember my former boss FJH telling me how to breathe (something he learned at a spa in Arizona).  Left foot down, inhale, right foot down, inhale, left foot down, blow out, right foot down, blow out and left foot down, blow out.  So its inhale, inhale, blow out , blow out, blow out.  Make sure it is done on alternating feet.  I can't tell you how much energy this gives you.  I love to do this when I am on the "hill with my trainer, Tarsha, (it helps me almost beat her to the top) or when I want to speed up my walks.

When I walk I listen to my IPOD and my most favorite song these days is called Falling Slowly by Lee Dewyse and Crystal Bowersox. Yes, they are the #1 and #2 winners of American Idol.  But the song is beautiful and helps you calm down and (you guessed it), breathe.....

So the best advice I want to give my friends today is to read Every Last One by Anna Quinlan, listen to Falling Slowly by Lee Dewyse and Crystal Bowersox and oh, yeah, Breathe (Inhale, Inhale, Blow out, Blow out, Blow out!)
